Each year, the French cultural network celebrates the French language and Francophone culture. In 2012, the celebrations will take place in two locations: at the Alliance française of Johannesburg and in Yeoville. The idea is to bring the Francophonie to an outdoor location which will reach the francophone community and beyond. The programme at the Alliance française of Johannesburg will include a mix of musical acts, dance performance, a film screening as well as a literary event.

Sia Tolno (picture), the Guinean singer also 2011 RFI Discoveries Award Winner, will take the centre stage of this Francophonie. The Fantastic Guys will bring some Congolese flavour with their rhythms and sounds. South African choreographer and dancer, Fana Tshabalala, will present his dance work Une Rupture. On the literature side of things, the organisation Les Passeurs de Mots will take us on a literary journey with "Walk on the Words side" in Zoo Lake. The festivities will come to an end with the screening of the much loved Swiss film Titeuf’ for the youngs and the olders.

The programme in Yeoville will include the Afrostar Sia Tolno with other artistic acts and a literary event.
